Hay pianistas que tocan el blues y otras
que parecen tener una pelea personal con las teclas. Katie Webster
pertenecía a la segunda categoría. En este episodio de Flash Blues
viajamos hasta Alemania, donde en 1983 grabó 200% Joy! para Ornament
Records. Un disco que demuestra que no hacen falta grandes orquestas cuando
tienes una voz poderosa, un piano y mucho que decir.
Katie fue protegida de Otis Redding y puso su talento al servicio
de cientos de grabaciones del blues del Bayou. Después de años alejada de los
escenarios, regresó con la energía de quien todavía tenía muchas cuentas
pendientes con el blues.

don't need a big band when you have a powerful voice, a piano, and plenty to
say.
Katie was once Otis Redding's protégé and brought her talent to hundreds of
Bayou blues recordings. After years away from the spotlight, she returned with
the energy of someone who still had unfinished business with the blues.
